ROSALIND ENDTER KOESTING. Correspondence and Contracts; n.d., 1943-1946. .1 cu. ft.

Rosalind Endter moved to Anchorage from Seattle in August 1944. While in Seattle, she taught school and held secondary jobs with Boeing Corporation in construction of the Flying Fortresses, with Frederick and Nelson possibly for the temporary store at Boeing Plant Number 2, as well as with the post office. She moved to Anchorage to teach in a public school for the 1944-1945 school year and was very involved with USO activities. She moved from Anchorage to Honokaa, Hawaii, to teach in the 1945-1946 school year. She married Bill Koesting in the late spring 1946 and then moved to New Jersey.

This collection consists of eighteen letters to and from Rosalind Endter Koesting, one empty envelope, and two teacher's contracts. Twelveof the letters are from Rosalind to her mother, Mrs. Alexander Endter, describing her living conditions, activities, jobs, and plans. Three of the letters were sent from Seattle prior to her move to Anchorage, eight from Anchorage, and one undated letter from her home in New Jersey after her marriage. In the letters from Anchorage, Rosalind describes her living conditions, makes requests for clothing, and describes her participation in various USO dances in Anchorage. The remaining letters are from Alaskan friends and co-workers to Rosalind discussing their personal lives, common friends, and events in the Anchorage public schools. One of the contracts is from the Anchorage Public School for the 1945-1946 school year (where Rosalind Endter did not teach) and one from the Borough of Verona Board of Education, Essex County, New Jersey for the 1946-1947 school year.

This collection was acquired by the archives in 2003.
