The U. S. Army soldier who took these photographs appears to have been a member of the 528 Engineers Heavy Shop Company and the 36th Engineers Battalion, serving at Davis Army Air Force Base on Adak Island, Alaska, in 1948.
The collection consists of the photographs of a soldier in the 528th Engineers Heavy Shop Company who served at Adak in 1948. The collection contains: the original U. S. Army flip photo album cover; 54 black and white prints; and a U. S. Army, Alaska, shoulder patch with gold star and polar bear head. Subjects of the photographs include: soldiers at the base on Adak Island; the sign for the 528th Engineers Heavy Shop Company and the 36th Engineers Battalion on Adak; the sign for the 97th Ordnance Service Company on Adak; soldiers at a U. S. Army training base for Company A of the 10th Infantry Regiment; and people in a residential neighborhood.
The collection was acquired by the archives in 2003.
