JAMES F. VACHON. Military Service Papers; 1955-1958. .1 cu. ft.

James F. Vachon , born in 1937, was from Fort Wayne, Indiana. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1955 and trained as a carpenter at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. In 1956, Vachon was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage as a member of Company C, 813th Engineer Battalion (Heavy Construction). He left Alaska in June 1957 and his term of service ended in January 1958.

The collection consists of various papers related to James F. Vachon's service in the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1958. The collection contains: a copy of Vachon's orders from the 813th Engineer Battalion (October 15, 1957); a certificate of training for completion of a course in general carpentry given at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri (October 28, 1955); four different leave forms (1956-1957); a weapons registration card; two issue slips for supplies; two passes; two meal cards; an immunization certificate and immunization register; two unidentified black and white personal photographs; two 6th Armored Corps shoulder patches; and various miscellaneous tickets, notes, and receipts.

The collection was acquired by the archives in 2006.
