Biographical note:
Lisa Rudd was Director of Equal Employment Opportunity for the Anchorage School District (1972-1973). In 1974, she was coordinator of education programs for the Alaska Native Foundation. She also served on the Anchorage Charter Commission, the State Commission for Human Rights, and was a member of the Governor’s Equal Employment Committee (1974-1975). In 1976, she was appointed to the State Legislature at the death of Willard Bowman. In 1976, she was elected to the State House of Representatives, and in 1980 she ran unsuccessfully for State Senate. She was active in the women’s rights movement, and helped to get women’s shelters established in a number of Alaskan communities, including Anchorage. From 1983-1985, Lisa Rudd served as Commissioner of Administration in Governor Bill Sheffield’s Cabinet. She died in 1985.
