Organizational note:
The Anchorage Waterways Council is a nonprofit organization created to protect, restore, and enhance the waterways, wetlands, and associated uplands of Anchorage.  The group first met in 1984 after the first local creeks clean-up and was officially organized in 1985. The organization advocates for water quality and runs the volunteer Citizens Environmental Monitoring Program, Creeks as Classrooms, and Adopt a Stream programs as well as an annual Creek Clean-Up day event.

Collection description:
The collection consists of the organizational records of the Anchorage Waterways Council from 1979-1991, as well as other related materials concerning waterways in Anchorage. Organization records within the files include correspondence, memoranda, meeting agendas, board meeting minutes, financial reports, committee papers, brochures and other publications, public notices, notes, bylaws, manuals, and program recommendations. Other materials within the files include newspaper clippings, relevant documents from the Municipality of Anchorage and other state and national governmental entities, and documents and publications from other related nonprofit organizations. Additionally, the collection also includes a 1979 prospectus for the Tudor Centre development and 1980 maps and drawings concerning a proposed Chester Creek spawning channel and creek realignment.

Arrangement: The collection is mostly arranged chronologically.
