Biographical note:
William L. McNutt was a native of Oklahoma.  He came to Alaska in 1948, joining the Anchorage Fire Department as a truck driver. McNutt was promoted to captain in 1950 and assistant chief in 1951.  He retired from the Anchorage Fire Department in 1968, after which he devoted much of his time to gardening.  McNutt and his wife, Bunny, owned a home at 1925 Arctic Boulevard.  William L. McNutt died in Anchorage in 1974 at the age of 70.

Collection description:
The collection consists of 876 of William L. McNutt’s personal color photographic slides.  The slides concern the McNutts’ life in Alaska.  Subjects of the slides include William McNutt, Bunny McNutt, their home and garden in Anchorage, the Anchorage Fire Department, places and events in Anchorage, and various places in southcentral Alaska.  Most of the slides are unidentified and images dating prior to 1963 are undated. 

Arrangement: The slides are arranged in somewhat chronological order.
