Biographical note:
Rubye Johnson was the daughter of Anton and Hilda Johnson. The Johnson family lived in Anchorage during the late 1910s and early 1920s. According to the 1920 United States Census, the family lived at 414 Fourth Street in Anchorage. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were Swedish immigrants who lived in Washington before moving to Alaska. Mr. Johnson worked as a laborer for the Alaska Railroad. Rubye, their only child in 1920, was born in Washington in 1913 or 1914. In the 1920s the family moved back to Washington and later to California. From 1932 to 1933, the family traveled to Europe, visiting relatives and friends in Sweden and Denmark.

Collection description:
This collection consists of a single album of photographs of Rubye Johnson, her parents, and other relatives and friends. The images were taken in Alaska, Washington state, California, and Europe. The album belonged to Rubye Johnson.
