Edwin F. Finch was an Anchorage resident and employee of the Federal Aviation Agency at the time of the Alaska Earthquake on March 27, 1964.
The collection consists of Edwin F. Finch's scrapbook concerning the Alaska earthquake of 1964. The scrapbook contains an account of Finch's personal experiences during the earthquake in Anchorage, a Federal Aviation Agency certificate of appreciation issued to Finch for service after the earthquake, 42 photographs of earthquake damage in Anchorage, a copy of the photo-illustrated 1964 annual report for the city of Anchorage, and three different pictorial reviews of the earthquake, including Quake, Great Alaska Earthquake!...A Pictorial Review, and Good Friday Nightmare: Pictorial Review – Quake and Tidal Wave – Alaska to California – 1964. The photographs primarily depict the Turnagain Heights subdivision and downtown areas of Anchorage.
