Historical note:
The Alaska Nurse Practitioner Association (ANPA) is a non-profit organization whose membership consists of Nurse Practioners and NP students in the State of Alaska, which was formed and incorporated to: promote the public interest in nurse practitioner care; encourage communication among nurse practitioners, especially for Alaskans; support and promote increased availability of nurse practitioner services in Alaska; encourage member participation in ANPA business; promote communication between provider groups engaged in health care; promote availability of continuing education for nurse practitioners in Alaska; and provide support and encouragement to the concerns and interests of nurse practitioners and nurse practitioner students.
Collection description:
Items in the collection include: newsletters from the ANPA beginning in the 1980's when it was call the PEER group; Board of Nursing transcripts of public comment on the regulations that gave Nurse Practitioners independent practice and prescriptive privileges in Alaska in 1984; correspondence on legislation, court cases and regulations concerning Advanced Nurse Practitioners; as well as as a copy of the handwritten list of the first 32 ANP numbers assigned in Alaska.
