Collection description:
The majority of this collection consists of letters written by Charles Pospisil to Myrtle Feldmann, his girlfriend, during his time in WWII. A majority of the letters were written while Pospisil was stationed in Amchitka, AK. Pospisil wrote of his daily life in the Army, as well as of personal matters. Included in the collection are photographs, postcards, and an Aleutian Islands masonic membership card Pospisil sent to Feldmann in his letters. The photographs depict daily life on Amchitka, and were either bought or given to Pospisil by aquantinces. Pospisil occasionally numbered and described the photographs. The collection also contains three copies of the “Daily Duration,” a military newsletter that was published on Amchitka, which he mailed to Feldmann, and a wedding photograph of Myrtle Feldmann and Charles Pospisil.
