Travel:
By Air:
Alaska Airlines is offering a discount to NWA convention attendees.
Details:
For Internet/Web use go to alaskaair.com, and input the eCert Code ECCMR9616 in the eCert Code box when filling out the Flights Quick Search box. The discount will be applied to any flights that meet the criteria of the prearranged meeting code. After inputting the eCert Code, clicking on the question mark will pull up a screen giving general advisories regarding the use of eCerts. Clicking on the button marked “view” on this screen will bring up a detailed description of what is allowed on this particular meeting code.
Continental, Delta, and Northwest also fly into Anchorage’s Ted Stevens International Airport. Frontier and American do too. For others, check with your preferred airline.
By Water:
The Alaska Marine Highway System offers ferry service from Bellingham, WA to numerous communities. You can’t go all the way to Anchorage aboard a ferry, but you can take your car with you and enjoy an extended trip. If you choose the ferry/car route, remember that you may pass through Canada and will need a passport.
By Road:
We’re told you can make it from Seattle to Anchorage in 36 hours straight via the Alaska Highway (also known as the AlCan). Since we suspect this method/time requires breaking traffic laws in both Canada and the United States, we strongly advise a more relaxed itinerary.
Getting around Anchorage:
Taxis are readily available at the airport and throughout the downtown area. Many hotels also offer shuttle service to and from the airport. Rental cars are plentiful and most national rental agencies have a presence in Anchorage, but you may want to book early to ensure availability. If you're planning on driving around Alaska, confirm road policies with your agency before you come: driving on some of the more remote and unpaved "highways" are disallowed by agency policy.
