In 1984, the Intercollegiate Athletics Board became its official name when its bylaws were approved by Chancellor David L. Outcalt in November 26th, 1984.
The Intercollegiate Athletic Board is an advisory committee composed of UAA faculty members, students, and members of the community that develop, recommend, and review Athletics policies, regulations, and budgets. Included in these duties is to ensure that the UAA Athletics programs are in compliance with UAA regulations and with national and regional regulations, such as the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). IAB recommendations are reported to the Chancellor.
Series description: The IAB records cover the years 1978 to 1986. The records consist of IAB board meeting minutes, correspondence to and from the IAB, and NCAA annotated rules, meeting minutes, and seminar/conference notes. Subjects of meeting minutes and correspondence include NCAA and Title IX regulations, developing athletics programs, reviews of the budget, and logistics and policies regarding tournaments and conferences UAA athletics teams hosted or attended.
