These alerting services automatically send email notifications for new citations or tables of contents (TOC) that match the requester's interests. Several of the databases provide the full-text of the articles.

Alerting (also called current awareness) services help you keep up-to-date with the newest publications and latest developments in different fields. When information is added to a journal, or when new information about a particular subject becomes available, alerting services will automatically notify you via email. You simply register to set up a profile, identifying new issues of journals you’d like to review, or search terms you’d like to have run against the database..

Even if the Consortium Library does not have access to the journal either online or in print, you can still receive email alerts. It is helpful to have these alerts, as you can request the journal article of interest through our Interlibrary Loan Department.
