The SAIC Commercial Business Unit currently has an opening for a Desktop Systems Support position in Anchorage, Alaska.
Responsible for performing desktop support functions and Windows Server administration activities involving the installation, modification and repair of complex equipment and systems. Primary responsibilities involve the daily administration of Windows servers which includes performing backups, analyzing system faults, researching, troubleshooting and supporting Windows XP desktop and laptop computer systems and hardware for approximately 100 users. Must be able to analyze and provide solutions for complex issues considering several factors. Conducts onsite installation and testing of equipment to ensure proper working order. Isolates equipment start-up malfunctions and takes corrective action. Prepares daily logs and reports work performed. Works on problems of limited scope in an Information Technology (IT) environment. Interacts daily with supervisors, peer groups, and customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information.
REQUIRED EDUCATION.
High school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years of customer service experience and 6+ years technical or related work experience. Associates degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Must have excellent customer service, interpersonal skills, good work ethic and the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Windows Server 2003 , Active Directory, Windows XP and commonly used Microsoft products specifically the Office Suite. Microsoft Exchange server experience is preferred. Ability to manage and support a small back office infrastructure as well as supporting 100+ desktop clients. Interact daily with supervisor, peer groups, and customers. Interaction normally involves exchange or presentation of factual information. Must be fluent in written and spoken English. Must have valid Alaska driving license.
DESIRED SKILLS.
Associates degree, Microsoft or other IT related certification are preferred.

The SAIC Commercial Business Unit currently has an opening for a Systems Administrator in Anchorage, Alaska.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs a variety of complex assignments associated in the support of IT services for an Alaska-based client performing Enterprise system administration, Change Management, Trouble ticket queue management. Will respond to system faults, troubleshoot, and run diagnostic tests on Windows infrastructure to predict, detect and prevent problems. Initiates preventative maintenance on software and hardware systems as well as repairing system hardware problems. Reviews and prepares documentation for systems including requirements definitions, system specifications, test plans, change management and solution whitepapers. Key success factor: Ability to clearly communicate at all levels, users, peers and upper management. The ability to troubleshoot complex issues, the ability to develop and comply with structured processes, the ability to work in a team environment.
REQUIRED SKILLS: Windows AD, Exchange 2003 or current. Process oriented individual with four recent years performing system administration in an enterprise environment. Must demonstrate the ability to perform software and hardware problem analysis. This position will be accountable for change management for the Enterprise infrastructure team. Must be able to demonstrate good customer service with excellent oral and written communications skills, ability to function well in a team environment under very demanding Service Level Agreements. Must be able to actively participate in an on-call rotation in support of a 7x24 operation.

JOB DESCRIPTION. Performs a variety of moderately complex assignments associated with monitoring and controlling Windows Server operating systems. Sets up and maintains Server systems. Analyzes system faults, troubleshoots, and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems. Evaluates and installs developed software during various phases of testing. Reviews and prepares documentation for systems and tests software. Performs preventive maintenance on the operating systems and repairs system/environment problems. Interfaces with vendors for trouble calls. Frequently interacts with customers and functional peer groups.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline and 3+ years of Windows Server systems support experience. Viewed as a well-developed technical resource capable of handling moderately complex assignment.
DESIRED SKILLS: Unix/Linux/NetApp/VMWare/Citrix/Sharepoint system support.
