Welcome to LS 101

Library and information research skills are critical to success in your University life, your career, and your personal life.  This course is a one-credit, web-based introduction to library skills.  It is designed to enable you to navigate through the world of academic library research.  We believe the research skills you learn here will translate into better grades and increase your potential for success in all of your endeavors.  We hope you find this to be true!

After completing the eight units in this course, you will have learned:

  • to recognize when you have a need for information;
  • to understand at a basic level how information is organized;
  • how to use the major types of library resources for a given research need;
  • how to find and evaluate information on the Web; and
  • how to organize, evaluate, and appropriately use information.

Any time you spend in the Library will help clarify the material in this course.
