Biographical note:
The Herman Erickson family was from Fresno, California. Family members took color slides during their various vacations, which included trips to: British Columbia (1951-1952, 1954); the World’s Fair in Brussels, Belgium (1958); Coastal Oregon and California (1959-1960); Yosemite National Park and the Colorado Rockies (1965); and Coastal British Columbia and Southeast Alaska (1969). The family’s 1969 trip was a cruise on the SS Prince George from Vancouver, British Columbia to Skagway, Alaska, and return. Stops on the cruise included Prince Rupert, Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Petersburg and Wrangell. The trip also included a railroad trip from Skagway to Lake Bennett on the Yukon and White Pass Railway.

Collection description:
The collection consists of the tourist color slides of the Herman Erickson family. The collection contains 688 color 35mm slides. Subjects of the slides include: Bridge Lake, British Columbia (Oct. 1951, 11 slides); Paradise Lodge and Francois Lake, British Columbia trip (Sep. 1952, 87 slides); Francois Lake, British Columbia trip (Sep.-Oct. 1954, 118 slides); World’s Fair, Brussels, Belgium (1958, 65 slides); family and Coastal Oregon and California (Sep. 1959-Feb. 1960, 36 slides); Yosemite National Park , the Colorado Rockies and family home (1965, 33 slides); and Alaska cruise (1969, 338 slides). Subjects of the Alaska cruise slides include: the SS Princess George; Vancouver; Prince Rupert; Ketchikan; Juneau; Mendenhall Glacier; Auke Lake; Skagway; the Yukon and White Pass Railway; Lake Bennett; Petersburg; and Wrangell. Various handwritten lists are included with the slides.
