Biographical note:
George E. Jackson was a soldier in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He served with the 205th Engineers Battalion and was stationed on Attu Island in the Aleutians. In 1945, Jackson was later stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas.
Collection description:
The collection consists of the World War II era photographs and identification card of George E. Jackson. The collection contains 57 original black and white prints and a base pass with Jackson’s photograph. Subjects of the photographs include: George Jackson and fellow soldiers at Attu; historical signs on Attu concerning the Battle of Attu and the Little Falls Cemetery; the base church; an aircraft flight simulator; and area scenery. The identification card was issued to Jackson at Fort Riley, Kansas, on February 14, 1945.
