A Guide to Resources

March 27, 2014 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Great Alaska Earthquake of 1964. To mark the event, a number of Alaskan repositories have come together to create this guide to information resources related to the earthquake.

The Repositories tab connects you to a number of collections, digital and in print, that can be found in Alaskan libraries, archives, museums and other institutions.

The Photos tab takes you to over 2200 photographs, audio recordings, and moving image recordings related to the earthquake – many are available in digital form for the first time as a part of the creation of this project.

We hope this website becomes a valuable starting point for research into images, documents, books, films or other materials relating to the earthquake.

If your institution holds 1964 earthquake information and would like to become a part of this website, please contact the Archives and Special Collections, UAA/APU Consortium Library, University of Alaska Anchorage

This project is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Alaska State Library.
