For my sabbatical during Academic Year 2008-2009, I spent the fall in Tasmania at the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD), and the spring in Cambridge, UK, at the Scott Polar Research Institute (SPRI). My project was to investigate and compare the gray literature in these two libraries, and to improve availability of these important but often inaccessible collections. Spending the year away was a wonderful, stimulating, interesting, and productive experience — all the things a sabbatical is supposed to be.
Here is my final report, with a Table of Contents to help you find your way around:
1. Summary
2. Full Report

5. Reading List — books read while on sabbatical

Hi Daria,
Hope you are well, its’ been a while since we wrote to each other. I have a researcher from UTAS, who is interested in our AAD Lib information files and I mentioned your report. Hoping to send her a copy or the link if that’s OK. She is isnterested in the early Antarctic expeditions especially the Ross Sea Party of the Mawson expeditions.
Cheers GW
