Deb the Librarian talks with Scott Hamel, Professor in the College of Engineering at the University of Alaska Anchorage.  He is organizing the College of Engineering’s Summer Engineering Academies.  These week-long academies include the following options:  Structure Destruction, 3D Modeling, Java Programming, Robotics, Energy, and Gears and Sprockets.

Professor Hamel has also been involved in providing international help as a member of the group, Engineers without Borders.  Read the Anchorage Daily News article about Professor Hamel’s work on roof design and development for Haiti.

In March and April 2014, the University of Alaska Anchorage’s production of M Butterfly received rave reviews and experience sold out shows.  On March 28, Egan Millard wrote an Anchorage Daily News review of the show titled, “Seduction and Illusion in UAA’s Masterful ‘M Butterfly’.’‘  On March 31, in an interview with Deb the Librarian, Jessica Jacob, Director of M Butterfly, provided insight into this production, as well as her other roles as Adjunct Professor at UAA (with an upcoming Stage Combat course), and Executive Director of the Alaska Theatre of Youth.  Listen to this Informania interview with Jessica Jacob from March 31, 2014.  Listen, and learn!
