{"id":1,"date":"2009-08-24T12:45:33","date_gmt":"2009-08-24T21:45:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.consortiumlibrary.org\/blogs\/flip\/2009\/08\/24\/hello-world\/"},"modified":"2019-09-23T16:45:18","modified_gmt":"2019-09-24T01:45:18","slug":"hello-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/consortiumlibrary.org\/blogs\/flip\/2009\/08\/24\/hello-world\/","title":{"rendered":"2009 FLIP meetings recap (so far)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Moving backward in time, here is a brief summary of the last few FLIP meetings.\u00a0 It is the goal that from now on our meeting topics will carry over into this blog for further discussion, analysis, and\/or general commentary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>July 21: <\/strong> A mid-summer meeting when attendance was low enough to promote discussion about how to increase attendance and participation in FLIP.\u00a0 Possible future topics of discussion were brainstormed.\u00a0 Hopefully, new ideas like this blog will help!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>June 19:<\/strong> A discussion regarding travel to library conferences and the time\/money\/effort involved for both in-state and national events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>May 15:<\/strong> Andy Page, coordinator of the <a href=\"http:\/\/gandrewpage.com\/elearning\/welcome.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">e-Learning<\/a> graduate certificate program at UAA, was our \u201cvirtual\u201d speaker.\u00a0 Andy gave the group a thorough and enthusiastic overview of the program coursework &#8211; all the way from Indiana.\u00a0 The relevance of integrating emerging technology tools into our education and careers was made perfectly clear with the seamless use of the online technology that made his participation possible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>April 17: <\/strong> Included discussions about developing project management skills and how they can be quite useful, if not actually required, for most professional library positions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>March 20: <\/strong> This\u00a0 meeting took place the week after the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.akla.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alaska Library Association<\/a>\u2019s annual meeting in Kodiak.\u00a0 A few folks that got to go to Kodiak told the rest of us all about it.\u00a0 In 2010, the AkLA annual meeting will be in Anchorage and we will all have the opportunity to participate AND volunteer to help make it a success.\u00a0 Visit the <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/alaskalibraryassociation2010\/Home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2010 AkLA Conference Planning Website<\/a> for details.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><strong>February 20:<\/strong> About a dozen folks showed up for introductions and a brainstorm session on topics of interest to discuss for future meetings.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Moving backward in time, here is a brief summary of the last few FLIP meetings.\u00a0 It is the goal that from now on our meeting topics will carry over into this blog for further discussion, analysis, and\/or general commentary.
