Mills<\/p>\n<p>The Library of Congress has an impressive collection of photographs and primary documents. While items can be searched, they&#8217;re also grouped in thematic categories. You can explore the African American History section <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loc.gov\/collections\/?fa=subject_topic:african+american+history\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The book <a href=\"https:\/\/anch.ent.sirsi.net\/client\/en_US\/uaa\/search\/detailnonmodal\/ent:$002f$002fSD_ILS$002f0$002fSD_ILS:5849941\/ada?qu=black+history&amp;qf=JLC_LOCAL_HOLDINGS%09Library%0911%09UAA%2FAPU+Consortium&amp;d=ent%3A%2F%2FSD_ILS%2F0%2FSD_ILS%3A5849941%7EILS%7E7&amp;st=PD&amp;h=8\">Black Lives in Alaska<\/a> by UAA Professor Dr. Ian Hartman explores the historical legacy of Black Alaskans which spans before statehood. This is the second of Dr. Hartman&#8217;s book. You can find it here at the Consortium Library or at your local public library branch.<\/p>\n<p>Also locally focused, <a href=\"https:\/\/blackinalaska.org\/\">Black in Alaska<\/a> is a photo and interview project that explores contemporary stories of Black Alaskans, featuring individuals from around the state.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of other highlights in our collection include <a href=\"https:\/\/anch.ent.sirsi.net\/client\/en_US\/uaa\/search\/detailnonmodal\/ent:$002f$002fSD_ILS$002f0$002fSD_ILS:5781245\/ada?qu=black+history&amp;qf=JLC_LOCAL_HOLDINGS%09Library%0911%09UAA%2FAPU+Consortium&amp;d=ent%3A%2F%2FSD_ILS%2F0%2FSD_ILS%3A5781245%7EILS%7E8&amp;st=PD&amp;h=8\">Black Art: A Cultural History<\/a>, which explores the artistic achievements of the African diaspora throughout history and it has been updated to include the first two decades of the twenty-first century; and <a href=\"https:\/\/anch.ent.sirsi.net\/client\/en_US\/uaa\/search\/detailnonmodal\/ent:$002f$002fSD_ILS$002f0$002fSD_ILS:5689378\/ada?qu=black+history&amp;qf=JLC_LOCAL_HOLDINGS%09Library%0911%09UAA%2FAPU+Consortium&amp;d=ent%3A%2F%2FSD_ILS%2F0%2FSD_ILS%3A5689378%7EILS%7E9&amp;st=PD&amp;h=8\">America on Fire: the untold\u00a0<span class=\"hotspot\">history<\/span>\u00a0of police violence and\u00a0<span class=\"hotspot\">Black<\/span>\u00a0rebellion since the 1960s<\/a>, which examines the history of policing and protest from the civil rights era to today.<\/p>\n<p>These resources just scratch the surface!
