Letter from Ruth Schmidt to Professor Armin K. Lobeck, 1950 September 7.

Schmidt quickly obtained a lawyer, David Cobb from the Law Offices of Cobb and Weissbrodt. While she had already replied to the charges made against her, Cobb suggested she present several written affidavits from acquaintances concerning her personal integrity and loyalty to the United States. Schmidt wrote to former colleagues, friends, and professors for help. In this letter, Schmidt appeals to Professor Armin K. Lobeck of the Department of Geology at Columbia University.
