Interior Department Loyalty Board memorandum to Ruth Schmidt.

In January 1951, Schmidt was informed by E.L. Compton that based on the evidence given, the Loyalty Board unanimously voted that "no reasonable ground exists for believing that you are disloyal to the Government of the United States."

After being informed of the Loyalty Board's decision, Schmidt wrote a letter to Professor Brooks F. Ellis, Department of Geology, Wasington Square College, New York University. In the letter, she explains to Ellis what prompted the Loyalty Board to investigate her in the first place. Schmidt also thanked Ellis for writing an affidavit, which Schmidt submitted to the Loyalty Board.
