Bob Reeve at "Mudville;" ca. 1937.
Russell Dow Collection. Series 14i.
The photographer is Russell Dow. The location in the photograph is the mud flat area near Valdez, Alaska. The airplane is a Fairchild 71; it is shown here with skis which would be used for mud and snow.
Reason for Selection: This is a photograph of one of the great aviators in Alaska history. Reeve is standing in front of one of the early planes in Reeve Airways. Bob Reeve was known as the "Glacier Pilot" because he developed the ability to land and take off from these very dangerous ice formations. (JS)
