This is a U. S. Army Signal Corps photograph. It was taken in the USO building, known as the "Friendly Log Cabin" in Anchorage, Alaska.

Reason for Selection: Lorene Harrison was one of the most important figures in the development of musical related activities in Anchorage, Alaska. She was associated with a number of organizations including the Anchorage Community Chorus, the Women's Glee Club, and Men's Glee Club. During World War II, she was the music director of the USO in Anchorage. The archives has collections of papers from two members of the staff of the USO in Anchorage during the war. (JS)
