What’s that last option? In addition to helping students with research at the reference desk, librarians at the Consortium Library meet with students one-on-one or in small groups in appointments called research consultations. Midsummer is a good time to look back at a few of the past academic year’s acquisitions. These titles reflect a wide variety of subjects, but this past year’s funding also enabled us to add many more titles than I’ve listed here; we are not likely to be as fortunate this coming year.
You can find links to the ebooks by looking the titles up in the Library Catalog or in QuickSearch. For reference books, our policy is to purchase ebooks before print when possible, so if a title on the shelf looks a bit old, check to see if there might be a more recent edition or treatment in an electronic format. I hope you find something useful for your research, your studies, your personal life, or all three — and if not, then please ask at the Reference Desk and we’ll do our best to help you find what you need.

The Homeland Security Digital Library produced by the US Department of Homeland Security gives quick access to an amazing range of US policy and legislation, presidential directives, and national strategy documents, as well as specialized resources such as theses and reports from universities, organizations, and state and local agencies that have been selected by a team of homeland security researchers.
The easy-to-search database features more than 30 topics including border security, cyber crime and infrastructure, hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, energy security, immigration, sea piracy, climate change, and social media use in emergencies. Just to give you an idea of the breadth of content available here, the reports and briefings produced by the Congressional Research Service that are included range from Changes in the Arctic: Background and Issues for Congress [May 31, 2016] to Libya: Transition and U.S. Policy [May 13, 2016]. This is a fascinating resource!
